CONFLUENCE WORKOUTS: QI GONG, YOGA, & KICKBOXING

Classes for Herbalists, Healers, & Culture Shifters – at the upcoming 2018 Good Medicine Confluence

For the first many years of Plant Healer’s annual international gatherings, our characteristically beautiful rural event sites had too few buildings of us to expand the number of classes to accommodate topics beyond essential foundational folk herbalism.  Fortunately, since moving our Good Medicine Confluence to its new mountain-top site in Durango, Colorado, we have been able to procure sufficient spaces to expand our topics to include additional modalities, and means for a wildly healthy and deeply meaningful life. In May, 2018, we will be presenting 5 days and nights of classes and entertainment for the same prices as most conferences charge for only 3: over 70 inspiring teachers presenting over 140 unique classes that have never been taught anywhere before, exploring the depths and frontiers of empowered healing in all its many forms from botanical medicine to healthy foods, nature therapy, cannabis and entheogens, and the radical remaking of the current cultural paradigm!

Herbs alone cannot be expected to carry the weight of ensuring one’s health, when things like nutrition and exercise are so very important to our physical and mental wellbeing. And by Friday and Saturday mornings, after full days of sitting in classes, those of you attending of The Good Medicine Confluence will appreciate these opportunities to stretch or get aerobic, including yoga with Rachel Hessheimer, Qi Gong with Jorey Barnes, and what may be a first for plant medicine events – a fun kickboxing workout led by enthused instructor Shiann Swapp:

A Kickboxing Workout For Plant Healers

Shiann Swapp (1 hr – Fri. & Sat. Mornings)

Martial Arts are traditional training programs that can contribute to spiritual well being, while empowering the individual, teaching respect, and contributing to situational awareness, aerobic fitness, and overall health.  Enthused kickboxing coach Shiann Swapp will be leading a high energy kickboxing warmup featuring lots of movement, bringing her natural gifts of enthusiasm and positive energy, encouraging and supporting our self confidence and life balance.

Note that there will be no actual sparring or striking of bags.  Be sure wear loose fitting clothes, and plant to go barefoot or wear comfortable shoes.  All ages and levels of fitness are welcomed to join in the fun!

Qi Gong For Cultivating Connection to The Green Spirit of The Earth

Jorey Barnes (1 hr – Fri. & Sat. Mornings)

Qi Gong is the art of cultivating qi or energy by one’s own effort. This Friday and Saturday morning class will take participants on the journey from basic energy awareness present within themselves to energetic exchange and communication with the green world of plants. We will be working on a simple set of movements designed to bring balance and wellbeing to the body, mind and spirit. From this place of balance we will work on extending our energies out to the plants around us to come into a mutual beneficial communion. These techniques can be used also to help grow and create more potent medicine for both the people and the planet.
